Prefabrication — All bridge components, including abutment foundations and handrails, are prefabricated under safe, factory-controlled conditions. This provides customers with faster production and eliminates the risks and complications associated with site-built bridge systems. Transpan Bridges’ prefabricated systems can typically be installed at a project site in one day, require minimal crew and cause little site disturbance. This approach offers direct cost savings and a fast schedule.

Shop Drawings — Every bridge project includes stamped sets of engineered drawings documenting dimensions, material specifications, embedded items, handrails, members sizes, reinforcing, reactions, general design notes and weights, and field installation instructions. All shop drawings are signed and sealed by a registered professional engineer.  

Precast Concrete Decks — Vehicle bridges are designed to AASHTO HS-20-44 full traffic-rated vehicle load. Precast components meet ASTM material specifications,minimum type I/II Portland 4000 p.s.i. supports a minimum 60 lbs. p.s.f. concentrated load and 30% additional for impact loads. Wind load design: 30 p.s.f. Maximum strength is reinforced as required.

Timber Decks — To be Douglas Fir ACQ-Alkaline Copper Quaternary treated. Rough sawn cut, #1 grade or better. Supports a minimum 60 lbs. p.s.f. concentrated load and 30% additional for impact loads. Wind load design: 30 p.s.f.

Metal Handrailings — Shall resist vertical loads of 300 lbs. concentrated load and horizontal loads of 50 lbs. p.l.f. Handrails shall be fabricated of steel conforming to ASTM A-36 or ASTM A-500 Grade B with minimum yield strength of 36,000 p.s.i. Painted with two coats of zinc-rich, rust-inhibiting primer and two finish coats of industrial enamel.

Timber Handrailings — To be Colorado Ponderosa Pine post and tenon materials milled to fit and treated ACQ .04 retention

Compatible Concrete Abutment Foundations — Available with all bridge styles, abutments meet custom specifications and are incorporated with bridge design. Included are abutment foundations with precast concrete wing walls, straight abutments with footers or pyramidal blocks or drilled-pier caissons as required.
